First impression of King Jasper?
Definite not impressed. Okay, maybe he was really fit for being forty-five, but I still wasn't impressed. The guy had streaks of grey in his brown hair, his blue eyes were hard, and he just had a mean look about his face that I did not like at all.
Add to that the fact that he practically kissed Elliot's face off when he saw him, and maybe you'll understand just what I think of him.
Elliot somehow refrained from looking as disgusted as he must have felt, and the way he cringed when the king grabbed his hand was probably only noticeable to me.
Elliot shot one last glance at me before being hurried off by the king to somewhere, I'm not really sure. My vision was blocked by a man with dark hair and deep set brown eyes.
"So who are you? Another one of his bitches?" I flinched back at the harshness in his tone.
"Umm, no, nothing like that at all. My name is Alex. I'm married to Prince Thomas." The man had the grace to look embarrassed, and held out his hand.
"I'm sorry, I should have said that. I'm Crown Prince Jonathan. Forgive me if I don't welcome all young strangers with the customary hospitality. I don't mind telling you that I find it strange to soon be calling a man 10 years younger than me my father."
"It's fine really, I've been called worse." The man smiled in spite of himself. "I could definitely see that being strange, but surely you must understand that Elliot isn't doing this because he wants to."
"I know that." His eyes darkened. "Believe me, I quite understand the depths to which the king has lowered himself to to get your brother-in-law." Another man walked up to him, and whispered something in his ear.
"It was nice to meet you, Alex, although your first impression of me is not what I intended. I have to go now, but my brother Jordan will help you to settle into your rooms. Of course, a servant could, but I hope by this I can somehow make up for my insult to you earlier." He smiled, and walked away.
"So you married Thomas?" Jordan looked so exactly like what I had seen of his father that it scared me. The only difference in him was a softness that contrasted sharply with the harshness of his father.
"Yes I did. A few months ago."
"Oh yeah, I think I saw something about that in the news." I fell into step next to him, and we walked in silence for a while.
"Where did they go?" I asked as soon as we reached my rooms.
"On some date, I guess." He looked about ready to throw up, but kept it together. "I don't have a problem with Elliot from what I've seen of him, but this whole thing just bugs me."
"Yep, me too."
"And to make it worse, Dad makes sure that we don't come in contact with Elliot very often. Apparently he's jealous of his own sons." He laughed bitterly, and I felt vaguely uncomfortable.
"Welcome to Cadazar, the most fucked up kingdom there ever was. Enjoy your stay." With that he turned on his heel and left me standing in the doorway to my new apartments.
I decided that I didn't want to explore the palace. I stayed in my rooms, reading a book (not 50 shades) until I heard the doorknob turn.
Elliot walked in, looking extremely tired. He nodded briefly to me before falling into my bed.
"I don't want to stay in my room tonight." I barely manage to make out what he was saying through the pillow that his face was buried in.
"Why not?"
"Because, he knows where I'm staying, and I don't even want to think about sleeping there tonight."
"Oh. Then stay here." I shrugged. He rolled over and smiled at me.
"Thanks."
"Hey, how are you?" I put my book down on the dresser, and sat down next to him.
"Fine, I guess." He had turned around now so I could see his face. His eyes were closed, but even so, I could tell that he was not okay.
"What happened?" He sighed.
"Nothing. Nothing worse than normal." I cringed at that. At the fact that he could become used to how that man must treat him.
"I just want to call Alan. Do you mind?"
"Oh no, of course not. I just...don't have anywhere else to go." I wanted to give them time to talk, but I really didn't feel comfortable walking around in this castle by myself.
"That's fine." He pulled out his phone, and speed dialed Alan's number.
"Hey, babe." Just hearing his voice brought a smile to Elliot's face. It hurt to see that smile. I was pretty sure by now that there was no chance for them to be together.
"It went...okay. You won't want to know the details." He ran a hand across his face, and stood up, walking towards the terrace.
He's was gone for a while talking to Alan. In fact, after about an hour, I decided that I should probably go to bed. There was no point in waiting up for him.
To be honest, I forgot that I told him he could spend the night.

"What the hell is going on here?"
The sight of an irritated, middle-aged man is not the most pleasant thing to wake up to. As my mind shifted from sleeping to wakefulness, I could not, for the life of me, figure out why King Jasper was in my room.
How did he even get in? I'm almost sure I locked my room door.
Whether I could understand it or not, he was in my room, and o probably needed to answer him.
"Well, I was going to ask you the same thing. I don't usually have kings burst into my room to wake me up. I appreciate the thought, but I'd much rather you didn't-"
"Shut up! What the hell is Elliot doing in here?" I sat up, and looked down at the other person in my bed.
"Oh well, if you really want to know, he was terrified of sleeping in his room." The king didn't look convinced.
"Is that true, Elliot?" Elliot was awake by this time, and looked very surprised to see his future husband in my room. I think the moment when we realized what it could look like, was one of the most awkward moments of my life...so far.
"I.."
"Why would you be?" His tone was harsh, and he had advanced further into the room, until he was standing in front of Elliot. Elliot looked terrified, and I couldn't stand sitting there in silence a moment longer.
"Because He was scared you might pay him a visit, and he figured he'd rather take his chances with me."
The king turned his attention from Elliot to me. His eyes narrowed, and he walked around to my side of the bed. I stood quickly, so as not to give him the opportunity to speak down to me.
"And who are you?"
"I'm Alex. His brother-in-law."
"Oh I see. You're Thomas' bitch."
"Excuse me! I am no one's bitch." He sneered, and stepped closer. I stepped back, feeling my shoulders hit the wall behind me.
"I don't give a damn what you are. How is Thomas, by the way? Still denying what I tried to make him realize years ago?" He must have seen the confusion in my eyes, because he laughed.
"Oh here's a lot you don't know about Thomas if you don't know what I'm talking about." His sneer was really staring to get on my nerves.
"I know a damn sight more about him than you do! Now get out of my personal space!"
"You're a feisty one, aren't you? I like that." He brought his hand up, to do God knows what, and I pushed it away roughly.
"Are you seriously hitting on me in front of your fiancé?"
"Oh, you don't mind, do you, Elliot?" He smirked at Elliot, who was still sitting on the bed.
"Jasper, please, just go. I will be down to breakfast soon." Jasper looked loathed to back down, but after giving me another glare, he turned on his heal and stamped out.
I let out a deep breath, and fell back on my bed.
"Now that, was weird."
"True. I'm sorry."
"It's not you. It's him." Elliot smiled slightly, but I couldn't seem to make one form. Something was bugging me about what the king had said.
Something about Thomas...
