Before he could finish, Ethan smashed his fist right into Blake's face.
The whole place went nuts.
I just stood there shocked, watching these two go at it.
Then Ethan let out this cold laugh: "I don't need to know any of that crap. All I care about is that my future wife, my Liv, is the sweetest, kindest girl ever. Whoever she loved before? That's ancient history."
"Plus, she got played by a heartless asshole like you. You tricked her into loving you."
"You telling me all this just makes me see what an incredible girl she is. Makes me want to cherish her even more."
My eyes started tearing up, this wave of warmth hitting me right in the chest.
Blake looked completely blindsided by Ethan's words, just standing there frozen like his brain stopped working.
When he noticed how I was looking at Ethan, he snapped back and started begging like a desperate puppy: "Liv... everything he's saying - I get it now too. Please, just come with me? I'll spend forever making it up to you."
I didn't even bother looking at him, my voice ice cold: "No."
I turned to the officiant with zero hesitation: "Let's continue the ceremony."
"Ethan's the only one I love, the only one I'm marrying."
"Liv, you really won't forgive me?"
Blake's eyes were bloodshot, something straight-up crazy flashing in them as he whipped out a knife from behind his back.
"I won't let you marry him! I'll kill us both right here if I have to!"
The whole place went dead silent.
I was so pissed I couldn't see straight, my whole body shaking: "Are you fucking insane?!"
"Blake!" I felt this wave of total despair, actually hating him in that moment.
"What the hell do you want from me?!"
"You were the one who treated me like garbage. I gave you so many chances. I put my whole heart into loving you."
"You killed everything I felt for you, and now you're trying to force me to love you again?"
"How many times do I have to say it? I. Don't. Love. You. Anymore. Even if we got back together, we'd be miserable!"
Hearing this, Blake shouted, eyes wild: "Bullshit!"
"No way you don't love me anymore! You used to... you used to be crazy about me."
A deep feeling of helplessness washed over me, my nails digging into my palms.
"What's it gonna take for you to get it through your head that we're done?"
Blake's eyes went completely psycho as he shoved the knife into my hands.
"Stab me. If you can actually stab me right now, I'll believe you don't love me."
His eyes were desperate with hope: "Liv, you can't do it, right? You still care about me, right?"
But I just shook my head, face blank: "No. If you dropped dead right in front of me, I wouldn't feel a thing. It's just—"
Before I could finish—
Blake's eyes went dark, like someone flipped a switch.
He grabbed my hand and slammed it forward—the knife plunged straight into his chest.
Blood gushed everywhere. My whole body locked up. I tried to pull away, but he had my wrist in a death grip.
His fingers were white from squeezing so hard, forcing the knife deeper.
Blood soaked through his clothes, dripping down his pants and all over my fingers.
I couldn't breathe. Pure terror made me try to stop the bleeding.
But he acted like he couldn't even feel it, just staring at me, his voice a raspy whisper: "If even you don't want me... then what's the point of anything?"
As the knife came out, he wobbled but stayed standing, a sad-ass smile on his face.
"Liv..." his voice barely there, "is this... enough proof for you?"
I was completely frozen, watching him crash to the floor, blood pooling underneath him.
I couldn't believe Blake had actually lost it this bad.
The entire wedding was dead silent, everyone in total shock.
After what felt like forever, people finally started moving, cleaning up and calling an ambulance that took Blake away on a stretcher.
I backed into Ethan's arms. We didn't say anything, just held onto each other.
After that day, I never saw Blake again.
I heard after they took him to the hospital, his employees looked after him, but none of his so-called friends even bothered to visit.
He'd already given Sophia a kidney, and now with a stab wound by his heart, his health went to complete shit.
He was stuck in bed.
Couldn't even run his company anymore, and soon the family business crashed and burned.
When I was with him, everything in his life was perfect—friends, career, love.
But like dominoes, it all fell apart when I walked away.
When I heard about it all, I didn't know if I'd moved on or what, but I felt... nothing.
I'd pretty much forgotten how it felt to be happy from his empty promises, or heartbroken from being ignored.
Our wedding got cut short. I didn't really care, but Ethan wanted to give me the perfect day.
Two months later, we had a brand new wedding set up.
This one was way more epic than before, with killer decorations and all the works.
We designed every little detail together.
This time, nobody interrupted our vows. Looking into Ethan's gorgeous, loving eyes,
I finally said, "I do."
I was all in with Ethan - for better or worse, rich or broke, sick or healthy - the whole package.
And Blake? He was just gone. Like a bad dream that faded away with the morning light.
