" can we meet the girl before the good timing gets over?" Vasanthi Stated.
Chandran nodded his head and signalled his wife to get Keerthi out of the room for seeing the guests. Ambika entered the room to witness Keerthi adjusting her saree and hair style in front of the mirror.
"Keerthi, come they are calling you"
"ma one minute" Keerthi adjusted her front pleats and turned around towards her mother. " Have you served them the sweet already?"
"no not yet. It is on the table" Ambika replied
"good I am the one who will serve. And make sure you tell them that I am the one who prepared it. It would not be good If I myself say that la"
"pcch. Keerthi, why do you act childish?"
"maa, I am being serious not childish. I am the one who made it , so definitely it has to be pointed out la, appreciation mukiyam ma(appreciation is important ma)"
"uff... for once, stop your silly talks and come outside. Behave properly don't show your childish acts and loose talks in front of them. You are very childish. No one would believe you are an owner of big hall"
Keerthi came out of her room with her mother accompanying her. Vasan took a quick glance of her.
Dressed in elegant manner, with dark kajal and slight shade of lip balm, Keerthi looked stunning.
Her complexion and fit body maintenance made even the simplest dressing highlight her.
Performing a namaskaram to everyone Keerthi sat on the wooden chair in front of them. For a minute there was a silence indicating the groom and his accompaniments are observing her.
Ambika did not like Keerthi doing namaskaram to them. She was sceptical of this alliance due to their status right from the beginning.
Due to this thought, she refrained from preparing any bajji or other snacks and opted for buying it from shop.
Amrita and Vijay looked at Keerthi and were impressed with her looks. They wanted their elder brother to get married to her.
While Vasanthi - too had good impression with Keerthi's gesture and wished her to be the first daughter in law, making a good pair with Vasan.
Ambika, on the other hand, liked Vasan by his looks ,attitude and respect to elders so far now. But was slightly reluctant considering their status and background.
Adding to that, she was more concerned about single mom which would create issues later.
To her, single mom cases need to depend on the other elder males in the family to take up any important decisions.
There would not be a clear cut information and each and everyone would come up with their own data points for each and every thing.
Considering all this, Ambika was not quite interested in this alliance.
To the present situation, Keerthi was handed the coffee tray to serve the guests. She had her head bent down due to shyness for the first time.
She is not usually the shy type. But today she felt somewhat shy to look at him. Lifting her head pushing the shyness away Keerthi went near them handing out coffee.
Vasanthi gave the introduction of herself, Amrita and Vijay. Finally she introduced Vasan as the groom.
Keerthi with hesitation looked at him while stretching the tray. At the same time, Vasan did not look at her as he had already seen and tried to take the coffee.
The shyness which Keerthi had till now was long gone. She tried to tease him a little. Pushing the tray back she did not allow him to take the coffee.
Vasan at first did not take it seriously and stretched his hand more . But Keerthi tried to move the tray slightly towards right.
Vasan was quick enough to understand that she was doing wantedly. She tried to move the tray to left slightly when he came again.
This time Vasan caught hold of the tray along with touching her left fingers and took the coffee without looking at her.
She was amused at his audacity to tease her back and still not looking at her. Keerthi moved to Amrita not wanting others to question her why she was taking this long time.
She then got back to her same place after handing out coffee and started staring at Vasan.
While the elders were talking, in between asking questions to Keerthi, Vasan naturally turned his focus to the place where Keerthi was seated. He was stunned to see her winking at him.
He immediately turned his head to his left, with a force which could have even left a crack on his collar bone. Vasan composed himself and tried to act normal.
Few minutes later, not wanting to give the impression of looking at one particular direction, he turned his head towards right where Keerthi was seated.
Keerthi gathered her lips as in trying to give an open air kiss. He quickly turned around to see that elders were talking and his siblings were involved in discussing something on their own.
" This girl is too bold.. I should refrain myself from looking at her" thought Vasan.
His eyes betrayed him in few minutes. Vasan looked through the corner of his eyes .But it did not give him a proper image of keerthi , for him to conclude that she is not looking at him.
Mustering up courage, as if he was looking at the interiors, he turned towards the direction of Keerthi. It was just a fraction of second, their eyes met at the straight line. She was giving a pointed gaze at him.
He felt her eyes piercing him with her looks. Her lips had a teasing smile at him.
Unable to bear her piercing dove eyes, which appeared sharp and thick due to the kajal, he bent his head down slightly with a tight lipped smile.
How much ever he tried to conceal his smile it creeped on his lips without asking his permission.
A winning smile was plastered on her lips for making Vasan uncomfortable. Finally making him look at her with a bonus smile, Keerthi remained silent like an obedient girl. Vasanthi insisted on Vasan and Keerthi to talk separately if needed.
Before she could finish her sentence, Keerthi stood up. Her parents gave a warning look at her for her desperate behaviour.
Amrita and Vijay wished him luck and expected him to say positive answer as they like Keerthi very much.
Witnessing the quick behaviour of Keerthi and the glare from her parents, Vasan looked at Chandran as if asking his permission before he goes to talk with his daughter.
Chandran was quite impressed with the gesture of Vasan to get permission from the girl's parents. With a smile Chandran nodded his head indicating he is ok with them talking separately.
Vasan stood up from the sofa and marched towards the room following Keerthi.
