Will you marry me? - Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Keerthi rushed out of the room and informed her parents that she is ok with marrying him.
"I am ok with this marriage ma. I am confident and sure enough. We can proceed " came Keerthi's reply with boldness.
"Shhhh...." shushed Ambika and gave her a stern glare. Dragging her alone to the dining area, she warned her daughter. "Did we not tell you , we will take a day or two and decide before informing them?" asked Ambika.
Keerthi remained silent. Ambika returned to her seat while Vasan too sauntered towards his previous position and settled himself on the sofa.
Vasan's mother and siblings heard Keerthi's statement and felt happy. But the happy faces instantly faded away seeing no enthusiasm in Vasan's face.
There was a silence of who to initiate the conversation. Vasan clearly knew that Keerthi's parents themselves are not interested.
It's quite common and understandable that parents would look for an alliance that is equal or above their status.
Though Vasan has a new 3bhk flat, a good job with decent salary, he does not fall under the satisfying criteria of a girl's parents.
Moreover, as he said to Keerthi, he is not interested in Marriage now. His priorities are different and does not have time to think about his own life.
It is through the constant pressure from his mother and siblings he came for the meet.
Sensing that all the eyes of his family is on him, Vasan shaked his head slightly indicating not interested.
Vasanthi felt sad and did not want to question her son right now and remained silent. Amrita and Vijay faces too fell. Amrita even slightly pinched her elder brother for his act.
Ignoring those pinches, Vasan spoke to Keerthi's father. " uhhh.. we will let you know our decision by tomorrow. is that ok?"
"we are ok with the proposal, but we don't want to pressurize you and your daughter. So take your time and let us know a good result" said Vasanthi with hesitation.
"sure .. sure of course. we too need some time. " said Chandran.
Vasan signalled Vijay to book the cab and gave him his mobile, to which he abided. While Amrita was given thamboolam and kumkum.
Before leaving, Vasan collected all the plates and coffee tumblers served to them and placed it on the kitchen counter by himself, though Ambika insisted she could take care of it.
Not wanting to wait there even more, everyone bid bye and came out the house . The cab they have booked took 2 minutes delay to pick them up. Vasan and his family were still outside of keerthi's house waiting for the cab to arrive.
Chandran and Ambika, invited them again to have a seat till the cab arrives. Vasan suggested his mother and sister alone to be seated , while he and Vijay remained outside.
Standing near the window of her room, Keerthi was looking at Vasan's countenance.
His tall figure,chiseled body and strong arms visible even over his shirt, thich black bouncy hair, perfect jawline that was visible from the side angle ,his posture with left hand inside his pocket, while the right hand holding the phone near the ears, everything added extra handsomeness that made him look more hot.
Vasan who was talking with the cab driver over the phone turned towards his left side and spotted the cab. Cutting the call, he unintentionally spotted Keerthi gawking at him.
It was just few seconds their eyes met at the straight line. Keerthi felt his eyes to be more captivating that could even pull her heart out of her body
Though he noticed her , he did not give any reaction to her and hopped on to the car with his family. Once they all left, Keerthi came to the living room and sat on the sofa.
" Keerthi , did we not decide earlier about discussing the decision internally before we commit to them? Why did you shout like that in front of them?" shouted Ambika.
"maa, I like him. Why were you so sceptical of it?"
"Keerthi, marriage is not an easy thing to be decided within a fraction of second. Though the guy seems good , I don't think he himself is ready for marriage now" Adduced Chandran.
"paa, what's is there to think about paa? he is earning well, they have an own house what else and he seemed to be a good person at heart too. what else are you expecting? Their family too seemed to be well behaved and nice."
"whatever you say is correct Keerthi. But he has a younger brother and sister who are still studying. Once you are married to him, you have to take their family responsibility as an elder daughter in law.
They don't seem to be very well settled financially as well. You might need to do hard work your entire life for the sake of others.
I don't think you would even be enjoy your life peacefully with him after marriage" Ambika tried to explain their standpoint.
"Though I agree to your mom that they don't have the same strata in society like us,my concern is he does not have Father.
A Father is the backbone of the family to make important decisions. I understand they had an untoward incident making him to lose his father.
But at times like these, for any important decisions all their relatives will pitch in stating their opinion.
There would not be a clear cut information from them, and they always need to depend on others and their thoughts."
"paa.. whatever you and mom say I agree only partially. But look at the bright side. Though his father is not there , he is the one who is now the pillar of support for his family.
What if his father passed away after I married him?He is the one who has to take up the responsibility.
Status does not matter. Is the family background is good enough. Is the guy giving you a confidence that he would look after his wife well and will not leave her in any circumstance.
That is what matters the most for me" Keerthi gave a long lecture to her parents.
"woah..looks like my cute little daughter is not little anymore. She is well grown up, giving lectures to her parents."
"paa..." Keerthi whined.
"Though she looks childish her talks are more liked aged person. better we call her as Aunty"
"You are the one who is aunt mom, don't say about me. apppaa... see mom is teasing me , and you are laughing. Go scold her"
"Fine.. let's think about it. Will see what their response is. In my opinion , they would not say ok for it. He does not look like he is interested in marriage for now. So expect a negative answer from them"
"I already know pa, he said he is not ready for marriage now. Something in my heart says he too likes me.
Due to his commitments he is avoiding. But all his family members like me. Why can't we persuade them if they say no? I am sure his mom would definitely convince him"
"keerthi we will not push it further if they are not ok with proceeding. Only for your sake we agreed for them to meet at our house.
If they themselves are not ok, then we are not proceeding with this. Don't get infatuated by what you see. You will definitely meet your right life partner soon. " Ambika explained.
"and how will I know that?"
"hmmm.. you don't need to force anything that is meant for you. The new feeling that arise on him matters. " spoke Chandran.
"you mean that butterflies , heart skip a beat , some thing on that line?"
"hmmm could be . But what I meant to say is, the feeling you have on him. If you are having that good love feel only on him and not the same feeling with others, then you have found your soulmate. Simply put, the one whom you miss even though hundreds of people are around you."
"Very nice. superb.. will there be any Father in the world who would teach his daughter how to fall in love"?
"here he is . My Big Champ" said Keerthi hi-fying her father.
"enough, enough, Keerthi come and help with me in the kitchen. Will wait and see what their decision is."
