My blood ran cold at the sight of these foreign strangers. Combined with Ethan's ominous phone call earlier, a crushing sense of doom settled over me. My pulse pounded in my throat as panic took hold.
"Who the hell are you? Get out! I'm calling the cops!" My voice cracked as I clutched the blanket tighter, brandishing my phone like a weapon.
They didn't react to my words—just kept creeping forward with those creepy grins. Then my stomach dropped as the guy in back casually shut the door behind them. The final click of the latch sent my fear into overdrive.
In desperation, I switched to English, demanding answers. That's when the Asian guy beside me—who'd been smiling vacantly—suddenly whimpered like a scared child.
"Sister... I'm scared..." He ducked behind me, his voice trembling. "They're really bad..."
I barely had time to process his bizarre behavior before the group advanced again. "Back off! I'm dialing 911 right now!" My shaking fingers struggled to unlock my phone.
One of them—a Black guy—barked a laugh. "Call police?" His Mandarin was rough but understandable. "You know where you are? This Bangkok red-light district. Police won't help you."
His words hit me like a physical blow. Suddenly Ethan's "vacation" made horrifying sense. My frantic glance at the unfamiliar cityscape outside confirmed it—I was trapped in a foreign country with no way out.
"Stay back! I-I can pay you!" My voice broke as I made a desperate gamble. "Lots of money!"
Their smirks faltered. They huddled, whispering. The Black guy turned back. "How much?"
"Twenty thousand baht! All of it!" I lunged for my purse on the nightstand, hands trembling. Ethan had given me that exact amount for emergencies.
But when I flipped it open—nothing. Just empty fabric. My stomach twisted.
The leader's face darkened. "You fucking with us?" His voice turned deadly. "Boys—show her what happens to liars."
The last shred of hope evaporated as they moved in.
