He was the first to break the rules we'd agreed upon, yet now I've become the ungrateful one in his mouth.
Dominic is a smart man. We've been entangled like this for so many years because there's too much between us. If we really end the contract, dividing assets would be extremely troublesome. Even domestic assets can't be divided evenly, let alone overseas properties.
Most importantly, there's the 30% stake he's been obsessing over.
"Evelyn, you'd better think clearly - what good would ending the contract do you? Let's not push each other to desperation."
"If you want to end the contract, you should consider whether you really have the ability to do so."
After saying this, he tore the contract termination agreement on the table to shreds and threw it in my face.
Before I could react, he'd already turned and entered the room, taking his beloved omega mistress away, leaving me standing alone among the scattered paper fragments in confusion.
I don't know how Dominic and I reached this point. We clearly loved each other once, wanting to give our hearts and souls to each other. Now we're physically and mentally exhausted, not knowing which step went wrong.
During university, I was at least the campus beauty. The number of people pursuing me could form a line to the school gate.
But only Dominic had perseverance. Every day without fail, he'd bring me breakfast, pick me up for classes, and even reserve library seats for me early during finals.
Day after day, even iron rods can be ground into needles. I'm not heartless either. After all, what makes a girl's heart flutter is always in the details.
Moreover, Dominic was quite handsome - tall, handsome, and captain of the ice hockey team.
All these years, I never transferred my affections elsewhere. I've always been single-minded - once I decide on a person or thing, I won't easily change.
I don't know what could make me fall in love with another person in an instant.
Perhaps the greatest sorrow is when the heart dies.
Or maybe in Darian's pure eyes, I saw our younger selves.
Or perhaps, I simply fell in love with Darian.
I just don't understand why Dominic could stop loving just like that.
Looking at the scattered paper fragments on the floor, I suddenly remembered the note Darian left me.
I added the contact information from the note.
"Let's go out for dinner together."
I asked Darian out. Thinking of that night's entanglement, young bodies are indeed wonderful - unforgettable even if I wanted to forget. Plus that handsome face, I unconsciously became infatuated.
"Okay, come to my shop."
I later learned that Darian didn't work at the bar. His identity was as a fried chicken shop owner.
He'd graduated not long ago, started his own business, and the shop was doing quite well.
He appeared at the bar that day because a customer had ordered takeout from his shop. It happened to be the last order of the day, so he closed up and delivered it himself.
By coincidence, I ran into him.
When he saw me, he was a bit shy.
"That day, I drank too much. I'm sorry, I'm not usually like that..."
During that period, I often came to his shop. Over time, we became familiar.
I admit I was interested in him, unconsciously attracted to his aura. It could be called love at first sight.
A beautiful face, his whole body radiating youthful energy, polite in actions and speech, especially when he smiled - his eyes sparkled.
This was something I'd lost in my eyes after years with Dominic. His youthful aura was truly attractive.
I confessed to him.
"I like you, but I'm already bonded with another Alpha."
"But I'm about to end that contract. How about we give it a try?"
He didn't reply.
I assumed he didn't see it.
The next day, he replied.
"Let's try being together."
"Come to the shop today - I have a flavor you'll like."
I thought we'd just leave it at that, feeling it was a pity.
Just then, an incoming message made my heart instantly race like drums.
I hadn't yet figured out how to welcome a new "relationship" when I received a completely unexpected phone call at midnight.
I picked up the phone, and Darian said eagerly on the other end: "Evelyn, I miss you. I'm downstairs at your place. Can you come down and see me?"
