The morning had come, and surprisingly, the night-owl Y/N was the first to wake. She drowsily made her way to the washroom before recounting the previous night's drama.
"What do you mean? Saiki's been-"
Aiura stopped her sentence right there, glancing at the L/N and to Saiki back and forth in horror. "Um..."
Before Aren- The only person in this situation who didn't realize what was going on (besides Y/N)- could say anything, someone unexpected spoke up.
"Maybe you were just standing too back to hear me."
Aiura stared at him, mouth agape as Saiki had spoken with his mouth, while the purple-haired boy seemed... unsure. It certainly did feel like the first time he's ever heard the psychic speak, but weren't they just arguing not even a minute ago?
"Good grief. Fine, I'll room with-"
Y/N looked indifferent as she spoke up. "If you want to room with me, that's fine. Aren, I'm fine with it so don't worry."
She then looked towards Aiura. "Are you okay rooming with him?"
The opposing placed her hands on her hips. "Fine with me, I suppose!"
"Great!" Y/N announced. "Some of our luggage is still outside. Let's just sort that out and head to bed- We have to wake up early for the presentation thingy early in the morning."
A refreshing splash of cold water hit Y/N's face, followed by the coldness of the air. After finishing all the other morning tasks, she fell back to her bed. For some reason, she wasn't tired at all...
Glancing at the clock, she realized it was around 6 am. She still had an hour to waste and none of her roommates were awake. Or, that's what she thinks...
Saiki shifted lightly, seemingly wide awake. "Good grief..."
He sat up, first things first making sure his glasses were still on, and that his hair-clips were still attached. Y/N noticed he'd awoken right away.
"Oh... Goodmorning, Saiki."
The strawberry gave a light nod, showing he'd acknowledged the greeting and stood up for the bathroom. L/N sighed, continuing to lay upon her bed and staring at the ceiling, bored.
10 minutes later Kusuo came back out. It was another awkward silence, but uncomfortable this time. Y/N decided to break it.
"So, umm. What's the deal with your hair clips, if you don't mind me asking?" she questioned Saiki.
"... It's personal," he responded. His voice was raspier than even last night, showing how unused to talking out loud he was.
"I see."
"Aiura told me she was a psychic, and you two seem close. Are you a psychic, too?"
"No."
Kusuo almost had it with the questions and decided to turn it back on her. "Why were you absent?"
"What do you mean?"
"You weren't at school for a year."
"It was a family issue. My mother had something happen and because of that, I kept transferring back and forth. I ended up having school online for a bit instead and finally ended up at P.K. Academy two weeks ago, and started coming last week."
Saiki nodded, understanding not to ask much more about the family issues as your expression changed while speaking of it. He wasn't insensitive, after all.
Y/N appreciated this, truly. It was such a smile gesture, but...
"This guy, he doesn't talk much but... He's not so bad," you said with a smile.
There was a bit more small talk before it finally fell into a silence that both students didn't mind, and the clock struck 7.
"Saiki! Y/N! 'Morning!" Aiura busted into the room cheerfully, giving the other girl a slight hug, before glancing with determined eyes at the other with open arms.
Of course, Kusuo walked right away from her and made his way for the door.
Aiura frowned, crossing her arms. "Grumpy as always, hmph."
Kuboyasu greeted Y/N, the two chatting a bit more on the way to the lobby for the presentation. It was crowded there, but they found a good spot where all four of them could sit together. Not that Saiki found this to be a good thing.
The presentation was a mixture of chaos and informative as they handed out a brochure of some sort for students to view things. The teachers were letting them run wild as long as they kept well-behaved, and they were all placed into their respective travel groups.
Though, Saiki and Y/N's groups were travelling together. Yumehara and Teruhashi wanted to be together and they'd decided it wouldn't be an issue (ignoring a certain psychic's unheard protests).
"This is great! I can get Saiki to say 'oh' for sure. There's no way he wouldn't enjoy going on the trip with me! I'll wow him with my kind-hearted personality and beautiful looks! Oh, and there's also..."
"L/N!" Teruhashi called out, walking faster to catch up beside the H/C-haired girl. "Hey! You met me already, but I'm Teruhashi."
Y/N smiled softly, returning her greeting. "Hi! Yeah, that was hectic, haha." she was a bit uncomfortable but didn't show it. "I'm glad our groups decided to walk together. I don't exactly know anyone, but you guys seem friendly..."
"Of course! I'm the perfect girl; a being such as I must be kind to everyone!"
Saiki sighed. This was getting annoying.
The first place they decided to visit was a cafe. Due to it being the first day on the trip, the school decided that for whatever reason there wasn't a provided breakfast.
The 6 of them took a seat at the table nearing the windows- In front of Saiki was Y/N and beside him was Kaidou. Y/N sat next to Teruhashi- Err. Teruhashi had insisted that she sat next to the fairly-new student. Not that anybody minded, of course.
Everybody made their orders, which arrived in 10 minutes.
While Saiki was grabbing for his coffee jelly and Y/N for her F/S (favourite snack), their hands bumped. The two stopped their movements for a moment, before the female let out a chuckle, moving her hand back.
"Sorry! You go first," Y/N invited, recoiling her arm.
Saiki nodded and grabbed for his treat, placing it down in front of him. The coffee jelly was beautifully decorated with swirls of whipped cream. The jelly itself was a jiggly, glossy texture. To Saiki, it was mouth-watering.
He sunk his spoon in and took a bite into the delicacy, his impassive face shifting into one with a bright beam; flowers practically blooming around him.
Y/N sat there with her food, staring at him in shock before glancing at the blue-haired female beside her. "A-Am I seeing things?"
"He does that every time he eats coffee jelly," she responded with a gentle giggle.
Y/N placed her elbow on the table, her hands cupping her cheeks as she dug the utensil down on her food. Her face was ever-so-lightly tinted in a tone of pink, as she thought to herself:
"He's cute..."
Ever since the cafe, Y/N started to open up more. She'd befriended Kaidou quickly, going along with his delusions. The L/N found it kind of endearing.
Anyway, it was starting to get late. 7 PM had hit already and the group had spent the day goofing off. They'd mostly just sat in one place and chattered.
"Hmm, how do you guys feel about going on a hiking trail after we finish the sightseeing?" Aren suggested.
Y/N and Teruhashi were indifferent, while Kaidou seemed on-board.
"I bet a few Dark Reunion members will be hiding out in the deep, dark trails of those places!" He glanced at Y/N and Saiki, then to Teruhashi with his face slightly heated up. "Fear not, dear friends! I, the Jet-Black Wings, will protect you!"
Y/N grinned brightly. "Thank you for protecting me, Kaidou!"
While on the other hand, Teruhashi let out an awkward laugh. Though, of course, the boys still had their hearts captured by little thing.
Chiyo, kind of cast to the side, pouted. "You forgot about me, Kaidou."
They arrived back at the hotel, late for dinner. Most students were chilling in the lobbies or their rooms, with only a few people either getting refills or, like the 6, coming back late.
While Kaidou and Saiki took a seat at a spot to wait for them to return with food before getting theirs, the 4 were waiting for their turn on the food.
When they'd all finished dinner and parted ways, the 3 who were roommates walked back together. The elevator they were taking was crowded, so they kind of had to squish in.
"Ah, sorry, Saiki... Is it okay if I come a little closer to you? It's a bit crowded here and I'm a bit... Uncomfortable..."
Standing near her was Toritsuka. Of course. The boy had an unsettling smile on his face- Seemingly attempting to be charming, but failing miserably. Oh well, nice try.
Saiki sighed, shrugging and making a bit more space for Y/N to get a little closer in. He also shot his (unofficial) disciple a quick glare.
Y/N stepped a bit closer, making contact with him faintly. Again, all his powers were turned off. Hiding the shock that came to him every time was a harsh task, and especially in this situation, where all the bustling voices in his head just suddenly... Disappeared.
The elevator dinged, arriving at their spot. Y/N leaned back, pushing her way past the audience while muttering a few silent apologies. Aren, on the other hand, was stepping through easily as the people inside had made a way for him to get through- Out of fear, probably.
Saiki snuck through that path too, his psychic powers returning. He glanced at the girl walking further and further away. Already, the loud sounds had returned to his head.
Good grief. If this keeps up...
He'll start longing for her touch.
