Today was different from the other days on this trip. Instead of being allowed to travel around freely, the classes were visiting a garden of some sort. Probably one with a historical background. Though, it wasn't too bad as the students still went around in their previous travel groups.
"Saiki! Let's go meet up with the others now. They're probably waiting for us."
The psychic sighed. That wasn't true; they were the first ones ready- In fact, Yumehara was still asleep. Saiki stood from the desk placed upon the two's shared rooms and followed her out.
Y/N was slightly tired. She had trouble sleeping last night, but the few times she did there was that feeling where you're plummetting down. Thanks to that, she'd barely managed to sleep- at the very least, comfortably.
"No need to rush," Saiki responded in his dull tone. He, on the other hand, slept fairly well despite the noises in his mind.
Y/N shrugged, clearly still wanting to dash downstairs. She was excited about the garden visit. She didn't love nature, but the H/C-haired girl still found the settings beautiful.
Saiki took his time, but as they'd made their way down, he decided to let his curiosity bloom a bit more and attempted to interact with his roommate.
"What was your old school like?"
The girl looked surprised that her partner was gonna try and converse with her.
"I didn't expect Saiki to start a conversation with me first..." She thought but realized this was a good thing. "I mean, that means he doesn't dislike me, right?"
Her face betrayed all her emotions, which seemed to amuse the psychic.
"Well, it was a smaller one than this one, so I'm not used to so many people yet," Y/N explained. "Oh!- But I do love everybody's company here. The people here are a lot more welcoming than I'm used to."
Saiki's tense shoulders slumped as he'd slackened a bit, relaxing into the conversation a bit more. Of course, even if he'd spoken verbally (?) for 2 days now, he still never talked this much.
"Honestly, I just hope I don't have to drop out again," she added. Her eyes clouded a bit with a saddened expression.
Saiki gave nothing but a nod. However, that reaction made by her vacuous friend felt extremely reassuring.
Her usual distinctive glowing returned as she gave Saiki a tender smile, before shooting a question.
"Hey, I've been curious about this for a while, but what's with the glasses or the lollipops on your head?"
"Lollipops?"
The man in question gave her a stern glance as if telling her to mind her own business. Y/N returned the look with a playful grin. "For some reason, you remind me of axolotls."
The strict look now morphed into a glare. "What?"
"You know, pink... The Lil' antennas?" Y/N pointed out, examining him. "Not to mention, boring but in a fascinating way."
'Boring' was a compliment in Saiki's book.
He huffed slightly, turning away from Y/N. Just at that moment, the elevator opened up and he'd turned back, leaving without her.
Y/N whined for him to wait for her, unaware of the small smile he had hidden on his face.
Aiura walked behind Saiki, tapping him on the shoulder before leaning in to whisper something.
"Heyy, Saiki, why were you smiling when you left the elevator?" she called him out. He continued his walking pace and dull expression.
"None of your business."
Aiura puffed her cheek and crossed her arms. "It is! You're my soulmate so I have every reason to know."
Saiki ignored her, continuing the walk.
Behind them were the other girls. Y/N was practically sparkling as she examined all the blooms. She knew a thing or two about flowers, or their meanings- Mostly because she did some research on the topic out of boredom.
"Wow! These are so pretty..." Teruhashi said dreamily, glancing at a bouquet of yellow Hyacinths. "They smell nice!"
Y/N glanced at Teruhashi eyeing the flowers and decided to keep the meaning of it to herself. "Yellow Hyacinths, signalling jealousy..."
Instead, she nodded and skimmed over to her blue-haired friend. "They do have a nice, distinctive smell," Y/N complimented.
For a moment, she remembered last night. She wasn't wearing the pendant gifted to her out of fear it'd get lost, but she couldn't 100% tell what the flowers were. She'll have to examine it when she gets back to her room later. Maybe- Just maybe, Saiki knew the meaning of the flower he'd given to her.
The class eventually arrived at a small running river, which was essentially picture-perfect. Everybody rushed for Teruhashi to pose, practically begging for her to take pictures with them.
Y/N backed away, taking a few pictures of the scenery herself. Suddenly, the class started cheering and she'd turned around to check what all the noise was about.
Saiki had made his way beside her, not needing to even look in the direction to realize what was happening.
A butterfly had landed on Teruhashi's head, making her even more picture-perfect. The classes were going psycho over this.
"Where's Saiki? No matter, I bet he's taking some secret shots of me right now somewhere. I look stunning, after all! How can he not fall for me after looking at how perfect I am right now? I bet he's said 'oh' 5 times now! I should find him so I can hear him say it!"
The narcissistic female was going on and on mentally. Honestly, it was giving Saiki a headache at this point.
"Good grief."
Y/N turned around at the voice, greeting Saiki:
"Hey! You weren't walking with me earlier."
He shrugged. "Do you want to walk with me now, then?"
She turned a bit red at his suggestion, nodding incessantly. "Sure, if that's not too much to ask for, aha..."
Saiki gave an unnoticeable smile, fighting back the urge to pat her head. What was with him today? "It's okay with me."
Y/N hadn't noticed, but a butterfly had landed on her, too.
The pink-haired psychic would never admit it, but maybe it was he wasn't used to seeing people without an x-ray. For him, this H/C-haired girl looked stunning in that one moment.
Teruhashi was right there, nearby. She was about to interrupt their moment; fuming at the fact Y/N had managed to put such a tender expression upon the Saiki she was planning on wooing.
She grits her teeth, balling her fists as she continued walking towards her. "Why is Saiki with her and not me? What does that brat have that I don't?! Are they going out? Stop clinging to him!"
Her thoughts were going 100 mph.
Saiki had noticed her incoming and quickly turned away, calling for Y/N to follow; "Come on. Let's go ahead if you're done taking photos."
Y/N nodded cheekily, tailing along. "I'm done! Oh yeah," she paused, pondering how to continue on the conversation. "You seem to really like coffee jelly. Is it your favourite dessert?"
The boy nodded, happy that the topic was about the thing he'd loved the most. Not that he showed his contentment very clearly.
"I see. I'll remember to treat you to some next time, then," Y/N noted, before adding one more detail: "You're going to have to take me, though. I'm not completely familiar with the neighbourhood yet."
Saiki immediately nodded in agreement. Anything for coffee jelly. "Sure."
Y/N thought for a moment before giving him another one of her Chesire grins. "It's a date, then!"
"Good grief. Don't make things any worse..."
Behind them, even though Teruhashi was being drowned in compliments by her fans, she couldn't hear them at all. All she could remember were that stupid Y/N's words.
"It's a date?! And Saiki didn't deny it? How dare she-... Oh wait, I get it!" Teruhashi's aura grew even brighter- Though, her mind ran as toxic as ever. She let out an unprovoked smile, causing the people around her to melt. "He's trying to make me jealous, and Y/N is helping him. That's okay! I'll just follow them on their fake-date."
The slightly delusional female thought up of a scenario in her mind.
"Hi, Saiki!" Teruhashi beamed, walking in through the cafe.
Saiki's face was completely red as he shook. "It's not what you think, Teruhashi!" He stood up, walking towards her; leaving Y/N behind.
Teruhashi her hand upon on her mouth, giving him a wide-eyed look. "What do you mean, Saiki?"
"Teruhashi, offu..." Saiki said quietly, standing in front of her. He had glittering eyes filled with affection. "Listen, I-..."

Teruhashi snapped out of her daydream as her mind was being overflowed with the word 'output'.
"Good grief. She's so annoying," Saiki groaned inwardly as he flooded her mind with that single word. It was a random word that the Author had gotten from a word generator.
Y/N walked carefreely beside him, occasionally making some playful jabs at him. Saiki listened to her every word, with full attention.
You know, for a psychic who finds irritation in anything that exists, Saiki didn't find the L/N annoying at all.
