Olivia's POV
I was beginning to get tired of Jacob's attitude. I had endured it through-out class, but I'd had enough by the end of the day.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong or you prefer to continue bitching around," I snapped at him.
All I'd done was politely ask for a ride home. And as a simple fact, I've never had to ask. I only had this time because he seemed so pissed off for no reason.
"Look, Olivia, I said I don't wanna talk about it. Now get out of my car, I have somewhere I need to be."
"Do you have any idea how humiliated you're making me feel right now." I tried to fight back the tears. Was he breaking up with me?
"So you've decided that we're done?" I said, my voice thick with emotion.
"I don't know." He hadn't even had the balls to look me in the eye during our entire conversation.
"You don't know, huh?" I picked up my bag and looked at him. "Well, when you're decided Bae, let me know."
I stepped out of his way-too-small Porsche and slammed the door. He didn't even take a second before he sped off.
I just swallowed the terrible wave of emotion that gripped me. And held my heard up high.
"Olivia!" I turned to the voice and saw Christina, my best friend running towards me.
Unlike me, Christina was taller and much more curvy in her slender body. Perfect chocolate skin and pretty dark curly hair.
Not that I wasn't attractive. I'd just been told countless times that I didn't take full advantage of my beauty. My dark hair and green eyes often captured a lot of attention.
But I guess I could give my body some credit. At least everything was in the right places, in the right amount.
"Where's Jacob?" Christina asked when she'd reached me.
"Oh. Uhm, he had something really urgent to do. What's up?" I wasn't in the mood to talk about my relationship issues just yet.
"The squad is coming over to my place. Wanna come along? They're waiting for us."
"Maybe tomorrow. I don't feel so good right now."
She paused and stared hard at me. Then she turned around and walked away.
That easy, huh? I thought as I wondered what I'd done so terribly that people were treating me like sh...
"You didn't think I'd let you off that easy now, did you?" she said as she caught up with me.
"Why aren't you going? I thought they were waiting for you."
"They were, but I told them I'd find them there."
"You didn't have to do that."
"I did. And besides, we were first going to the mall anyways. So they'll probably find me home."
"How are you going to get home? Isn't your car still at the auto body shop?"
"It is. But I could ask my cousin to come pick me. And I don't think she'd mind dropping you off."
"I don't wanna bother her."
"She won't mind. Now tell me what that idiot boyfriend of yours did today."
"How did you..."
"Oh please. You have that look when he does something stupid. We can talk about it while we wait for my cousin."
She started to pull me away from the parking lot while she used her phone.
"Really, I'm good, Christina," I said after she hang up.
"Sure. First let's get those tears you're failing terribly at holding back, out."
We went back inside and sat on the hallway stairs. Almost everyone was gone. Probably excited about Spring break. Lucky them. Something to look forward to.
"Are you seriously not going to tell me?" Christina said when she'd waited long enough for me to say anything.
"I just don't feel like it right now, but I promise to tell you..."
"Hi Olivia! Hi Christina," some girl I hardly knew said as she passed us.
I sometimes forgot how popular I was. Considering I was the cheer captain and Christina my co-captain.
"Well you'd better tell me soon before I go over to that idiot's place and teach him one or two things."
"I will. But right now, I just need to be alone. How long until your cousin..."
Christina's phone beeped and she looked at the screen.
"My cousin's here," she said, grinning.
"You seem so excited." She was literally beaming.
"She just moved to California. Her flight landed last night. She's like super cool and chill, you know?"
"She's a she?"
"Yeah, you're gonna love her."
Something in my gut told me otherwise. At the least, I had an unsettling feeling.
"Well, if you say so."
We got up and walked through the hallway.
"But don't forget about the family barbeque at my place, Saturday night. Which happens to be tomorrow, so you'd better feel better by then." She poked my arm.
"Of course I'll be there. Wouldn't miss it for the world," I said as we stepped out.
"Damn right you wo..." Then she suddenly screamed.
"What's wrong!" I exclaimed. But then I saw that familiar beamy grin on her face.
"Shayne!" And Christina ran like a gazelle to-most likely-this cousin of hers.
But when I looked in that direction, all I saw was Mrs. Barnes talking to someone in an all black outfit.
Whoever it was looked good from behind.
The person seemed like the type my mother would never let me go out with.
Then I took a step back when the person turned around with a bright grin and opened up their tattooed arms for a hug.
Christina jumped into that hug and held onto her?
That's the cousin?
"Olivia!" Christina beckoned me to go to her. "Shayne, this is Olivia. My bestie."
When I stood infront of them, a tattooed hand reached out. I looked up into a gorgeous face. Intense hazel eyes. A full soft mouth. Magnificent jawline.
Christina didn't tell me her cousin was a tall and stunning work of art.
"Hi," Shayne said.
Mmmm. That voice.
"Hey," I replied as we shook hands.
I must have been staring too much because Mrs. Barnes deliberately cleared her throat. Almost forgot about her.
The height difference between the two cousins was significant. I had thought Christina was tall. But seeing them standing together, and she couldn't compare to Shayne.
"Principle Barnes," Christina said. "You know my cousin Shayne?"
"As a matter of fact I do."
"She taught me in high school. But she got a transfer here as a Principal during my sophomore year."
That husky voice did terrible things to my stomach.
"Wasn't that around ten years ago?" Christina said.
"Yeah, cuzz. Why?" Shayne said as she put an arm around Christina's neck.
"And you guys still remember each other?"
I took advantage to look at Shayne again. But also curious to hear the answer.
If only that smirk on her face wasn't so distracting.
But when those hazel eyes found mine staring, I immediately looked away.
"Of course I'd remember such a great student," Principal Barnes said.
I almost threw up in my mouth at the way she said it.
The Principal wanted some?
"And I'd remember such an awesome teacher," Shayne said as a matter of fact. "Anyway, we'd better get going. We wouldn't wanna delay Olivia."
My heart pounded so hard at the way she said my name. It had never sounded so...sinful.
