Olivia's POV
"Thanks," I said to the Uber driver as I stepped out of the car.
I pushed back my flowing wavy hair to look up at the tall gleaming building before me.
In it were the new Vogue offices and studios where my job interview would take place, a job interview that had been forced on me by my dear mother. I had zero qualifications but the woman still insisted.
As I entered the extravagant lobby, my hopes of not getting the job strengthened. The girls and women all around me looked like born models.
Their food deprived bodies would probably make it super easy to fit into anything, unlike me, who's sensual curves formed a few restrictions in my closet.
My curves were even more visible in the white long sleeved bodycon dress I was wearing, probably the cause of the many stares.
I tried to ignore the curious stares as I walked to the receptionist. Vogue was engraved into the front of her granite desk.
"Good morning, what can I do for you?" she asked politely.
"My name is Olivia Ryans, I have an interview."
I gripped the straps of my Vera Wang bag and hoped for the life of me that I had somehow missed my opportunity and that there weren't any more openings left.
"Yes, Olivia Ryans. You're right on time. Just go to the nineteenth floor and wait with the other girls there."
Great.
"Thanks," I said with a forced smile.
The black strappy heels on my feet clicked sharply as I moved to the elevator.
As soon as I got in, someone else followed right behind me.
It was a short brown skinned woman with long and thick curly hair. She was wearing my exact same dress, except hers was in a peach color.
"What floor?" she asked me kindly, reaching for the buttons.
"Nineteenth."
Immediately the doors closed, our eyes met through the reflective surface.
"I like your dress," she said with mock approval.
I giggled. "I like your dress too."
"Balmain?" we both said and laughed together.
"I'm Sasha," she said, stretching out her hand.
"I'm Olivia." I eagerly shook hers.
If I was going to get the job, I didn't want to look like a lost sheep. I needed friendly guidance.
"You work here?" she asked amusingly.
"No, I'm here for an interview. What about you?"
"I'm on the other side of the building, I just use this side to come in sometimes."
"Other side?" I was confused.
The elevator stopped at the tenth floor where a couple of business looking men climbed in.
"Yeah, Reyvox Records, the other company in this building."
"This building is shared by two companies?"
"Yeah, it's location is extremely profitable, so Vogue and Reyvox decided to share it instead of the money sucking lawsuits."
"That makes sense. I've never heard of Reyvox Records though."
"It's super new, but flourishing so quickly. My boss is a real pain in the ass though," Sasha said with a laugh.
"I suppose he has a lot to think about."
" 'She' is just an ass to begin with."
"Oh," I said, embarrassed that I was being sexist.
"Don't worry, so many people think that Reyvox Records is ran by a man. That's just how focused and driven my boss is."
The elevator finally stopped at the nineteenth floor and I stepped out.
"Good luck with your interview," she said happily.
"Good luck with your boss." She laughed.
When I located the reception area, where a lot more model-born models were, I found a seat next to a tall girl with discreetly dyed blonde hair.
She gave me a smug look before turning to the girl on her other side and giggling with her.
They didn't have to worry, I knew just as much as them that I didn't belong here.
Fifteen minutes later, there were still a number of girls remaining. The ones that had already gotten interviewed entered confidently and left teary eyed.
Well, that sums it all. I didn't stand a chance then.
In the next minute, another teary eyed girl left through the double doored room.
The woman who'd been calling names stepped out next to call another girl, but she was cut short when the doors widened further and out stepped Gideon Pierce.
Gideon Pierce was a world renowned photographer who had a special ability to capture his models' images.
Most of the girls shrieked with excitement at seeing their idol in person.
Unfortunately for me, I didn't understand the excitement. I'd only known about Gideon Pierce when my mother had talked to me about applying for the job. That was two weeks ago.
He was attractive though, in a beach boy kind of way, except for his almost bony physique.
"You know what, I'm just about done with all of this. All of you should just go home," Gideon said, his body hunching over in exasperation.
Everyone went silent, probably not believing what he'd said.
As for me, I wasn't going to take any chances.
I'm out of here.
Immediately I stood up and started to move, I heard him speak up.
"You!"
Shoot!
I turned to him only to find his glassy blue eyes on me.
"Me?" I said, knowing full well who he was talking to.
"Yes, you. Come here."
I raised my brows at his rude command, but walked to him nonetheless.
His eyes followed the length of my body as I neared him.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Olivia Ryans."
"You're hired, Olivia Ryans."
"What?" He couldn't be serious.
"I'm not fond of repeating myself. Patricia, show her around, make her comfortable. And when you're done, get her ready for her first photoshoot."
The prickish man then just walked away without another word.
My shock was probably twice as much as the shock on the other girls' faces.
What just happened?
***
"And this is the main office cafeteria. We share this one with Reyvox Records, so things get pretty exciting here," Patricia, who I'd learned was Gideon's PA, said.
"Really, why?" I said, trying my best not to be affected by the stares I was getting. Most of them looked like they wanted to eat me, all I supposed, were for different reasons.
"Well, there are three reasons. Firstly, the coffee and chocolate truffles here are incredible."
I could already smell the richness of the coffee. And the truffles smelled sweet and chocolatey.
"A few musicians come down here, but not the major famous ones, those prefer their privacy. That's the second one."
"And the third?"
A blush suddenly formed on Patricia's pale cheeks.
"The boss at Reyvox."
The boss at Reyvox? As far as Sasha—a woman I'd only met half an hour ago—had told me, the Reyvox boss was a pain in the neck. Unless, she was talking about another boss.
"The girls at Vogue mostly come here just to peek at the gorgeous CEO of Reyvox, and I'm not an exception. By the way, the CEO isn't a man, and I have a boyfriend."
I couldn't understand what could be so appealing about an over bearing CEO, much less a female one.
I meant no offense.
"Oh god, oh my god, she's coming! Oh man, she makes me so nervous."
Patricia looked over my shoulder as her blush deepened further.
Seriously?
I rolled my eyes, and turned to this so called CEO that made her fellow females a nervous wreck.
But when I turned, I was probably twice as much a nervous wreck as anyone else.
Those devastating familiar hazel eyes met mine in deep disapproval.
I was panicking.
"Olivia, what the hell are you doing here?"
