Noah’s tiny body trembled against mine, his little fingers clutching the fabric of my torn dress as if letting go meant losing me forever. My heart clenched painfully, but I had no time to fall apart, no time to cry. Not yet.
Gunfire roared through the warehouse, deafening, merciless. The acrid scent of blood and gunpowder filled the air, mixing with the suffocating smoke from the fires raging in the corners of the building. The Moretti empire was burning, crumbling into nothing but ashes and bodies.
Jason, despite his gunshot wound, was still fighting. Blood soaked his pant leg, but his eyes were wild, filled with a deadly determination as he fired at the Moretti men. He moved with ruthless efficiency, taking down anyone who stood in his way, each shot hitting its mark with brutal precision.
“We need to move!” Ethan’s voice cut through the chaos, commanding, urgent. His men were overpowering the Moretti soldiers, bodies dropping left and right, but the fight wasn’t over yet. Edward was still standing.
A sharp pain ripped through my shoulder.
The impact sent me stumbling, my vision momentarily going white from the shock.
I had been shot.
A burning sensation spread down my arm, but I forced myself to stay upright. I wouldn’t fall. Not now.
Noah screamed, his little hands reaching for me. “Mommy!”
I gritted my teeth, “I’m okay, baby,” I whispered, pressing a quick kiss to his hair despite the searing pain. “I won’t let them take you. I swear.”
From across the room, Edward Moretti watched it all unfold. His empire was falling apart. His men were dying. His power was slipping through his fingers like sand.
And he was furious.
A vein throbbed at his temple as he shouted, “Kill them all! I don’t care who it is—kill them! Even Lily! Even Isabella! Wipe them out!”
Lily, who had been cowering behind a pile of crates, froze. Her father’s words sank in.
Edward had no loyalty, no love. He was willing to sacrifice his own daughter just to keep his empire afloat.
Her breath hitched. “No… no, Daddy, you don’t mean that,” she whispered, shaking her head.
Edward glared at her. “Shut up, you useless girl! You failed me, just like your whore mother. I should have gotten rid of you both years ago.”
Lily’s face twisted in horror. “Daddy—”
She tried to run. But Jason caught her.
Her eyes darted to him, desperate, pleading. “Jason,” she gasped, grabbing at his bloodied arm. “Please, you have to save me. You still love me, don’t you?”
Jason’s expression was stone-cold. He stared down at her, his jaw clenching, his eyes dark with something unreadable.
Then he leaned in, his voice deadly calm.
“You chose this path.”
Lily’s lips parted. A choked sob escaped her throat.
And then he let her go.
She stumbled back, shaking her head in disbelief. “No… Jason, please—”
A gunshot rang out.
One of Edward’s men fired at her, and Lily barely had time to scream before the bullet tore through her.
She collapsed.
Her blood pooling beneath her, her trembling hands clutching at the wound in her stomach.
I watched her fall.
And I felt nothing. She had taken everything from me. My husband. My son. My life.
And now? She had nothing. A piercing shriek suddenly filled the warehouse.
Isabella. Her eyes were wild, manic as she clutched a dagger in her trembling hands. Her gaze snapped between me and Noah, her chest heaving, her entire body vibrating with madness.
“This is all your fault!” she spat. “You ruined everything! You took my place! You—”
And then she lunged. Straight for me. Straight for Noah.
I barely had time to react, my body moving on instinct, shoving Noah behind me... But before the blade could reach either of us—Bang.
Isabella staggered.
A small gasp escaped her lips. Her eyes widened in shock, and her mouth parting— she collapsed.
A single bullet between her eyes.
I turned my head, my heart pounding.
Jason stood there, his gun still raised, his face unreadable. His voice was flat. Emotionless.
“She was always too noisy.”
And then he fell. His injuries finally caught up to him, and his body hit the ground.
“Jason!” I gasped.
Ethan caught my arm, pulling me back. “Leave him. He’ll live,” he muttered. “We need to end this.”
I turned my gaze toward the last standing enemy.
Edward Moretti.
The man who had tormented me. Stolen my life. Hurt my son. He stood there, still defiant.
And Ethan stepped forward.
They faced each other. A final showdown.
Edward smirked. “You really think you’ve won, Sullivan?” he sneered. “She will never be yours. She belongs to Jason. No matter what you do—”
Bang.
Ethan shot him between the eyes. No hesitation. No mercy. Edward Moretti was dead.
And just like that... The Moretti empire was gone.
The remaining men dropped their weapons. Some surrendered. Others tried to run, only to be cut down by Ethan’s forces.
It was over. A deep exhale left my lips, my knees nearly buckling.
“Mommy?”
A tiny voice. A broken whisper.
I turned— Noah stood there, his big brown eyes filled with tears, his lower lip trembling. And then, in the softest, most fragile voice, he said—
“Mommy.”
My breath hitched. I dropped my gun.
I fell to my knees and pulled him into my arms.
He sobbed against my chest, clinging to me, his little hands fisting my dress.
“I missed you, Mommy,” he cried. “I—I thought you didn’t want me anymore.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, my own tears falling onto his hair. “No, baby,” I whispered. “I never stopped loving you. Not for a second.”
His arms tightened around me. “I love you, Mommy.”
I held him closer, never letting go.
Then, strong arms wrapped around us.
Ethan. He lifted me—carrying both me and my son. His lips brushed against my hair, his voice low, rough.
“You’re finally free.”
And as we stepped out of the burning warehouse...
With Jason unconscious but alive behind us... With the Morettis wiped from existence—I knew. We had won.
