Following that gesture, Annabelle realized the door in question belonged to Elena.
She frowned and strode over. "Sis, you've gone to the wrong room—this one is Victor's," she said.
"Miss Bennett, you've misunderstood," the attendant explained, hurrying after her. "Young Master Victor's room is on this side."
Annabelle's gaze shifted to the door beside Elena's, and her expression darkened even further.
The rest of the Bennetts were likewise wearing storm-cloud faces.
Lawrence Bennett asked, "Was this Sir Whitmore's arrangement?"
"Yes, Mr. Bennett," the attendant answered.
Elena shot them a fleeting look, then slipped her key card into the lock and opened the door.
A wall of glass greeted them—a huge floor-to-ceiling window flooded the suite with light.
Beyond it lay Waterfall Park, one of the resort's signature sights.
From this vantage, the distant verdant hills and the cascading white ribbon were perfectly framed.
Annabelle stared in stunned silence and drifted into the room, step by step.
The suite was not only blessed with a spectacular view; it was sprawling, decorated to presidential standards—only warmer, more inviting.
Annabelle's hands trembled with rage.
Sir Whitmore had given Elena the finest room and placed it right next to Victor's—humiliating her in front of every Whitmore relative.
She, Victor's fiancée, was now lodged clear across the floor.
The thought made her cheeks burn as if someone had struck her.
She lowered her lashes in dejection, but the rest of the Bennetts instantly leapt to her defense.
Julian Bennett declared, "Elena, hand this suite over to Annie. She's our blood daughter; it should be hers."
Elena's eyes remained calm, as though she had predicted every move.
"That's right, Elena," another relative chimed in. "It's inappropriate for you to stay here. Swap rooms with Annie so she can be beside Victor."
"Sorry," Elena said coolly. "Grandpa Whitmore arranged all of this."
Julian's brow knotted. "So what if he did? How did you get your current status? Without Mom and Dad you'd never be the Bennetts' eldest daughter, never have met the Whitmores.
Everything you enjoy comes from Annie's generosity. Giving up the room is only right!"
With that, Julian seized Elena's suitcase in one hand, her wrist in the other, and dumped both her and the luggage into Annabelle's room.
He then carried Annabelle's bags into the suite with the waterfall view.
The attendant tried to intervene. "Young Master Bennett, Sir Whitmore assigned these rooms in advance. If you switch them like this, I'm afraid—"
"Afraid of what? We're the guests here. Since when does a waiter give orders?" Julian snapped.
The attendant lowered his head and fell silent at once.
Annabelle's lips curled in satisfaction before she schooled her face into shy concern. "Sis, I'm really thinking of you. You and Victor are no longer engaged. If you stay next door people will gossip—imagining you're trying to seduce my fiancé. That would be terrible, wouldn't it?"
Elena answered by quietly closing her new door.
Annabelle's victorious smile blossomed.
Victor still hadn't arrived. While Annabelle waited inside her upgraded suite, a knock sounded at the door.
