The chill in Simon's eyes made Adaline's heart jolt after only one glance.
She sighed. "I don't know if you've seen it— the footage online this morning. Annie was drugged and filmed; that video has spread everywhere. If Elena didn't do it, then who?"
Simon's lips curved into a frigid arc. "Proof?"
"She destroyed it! She rushed to the estate at dawn and smashed the hallway cameras."
Elena Bennett answered coolly, "I already told you—I didn't erase anything."
"You're still lying! The receptionist told me a Miss Bennett pulled the footage—someone who once lived there. If it wasn't you, who was it?" Adaline snapped.
Simon narrowed his eyes. "Mr. Bennett, without evidence, it's slander."
Julian snorted. "She's destroyed the proof—how else do we prove it?"
Simon's jaw looked cold enough to frost. "You insist she erased today's footage at Cloudsea Resort—then today's cameras will show whether she went there."
Julian scoffed, "Why bother? She probably deleted that, too."
Ignoring him, Simon phoned Brian Change. "Fetch today's front-desk footage from Cloudsea Resort—bring it immediately."
Julian lounged on the sofa, lips curled into a confident sneer.
"Young Master Whitmore certainly trusts my sister," he said.
Simon's smile was faint. "You claimed for twenty years that you loved her, yet now you treat her like an enemy. Isn't that odd? Compared with you, I'll trust the girl who can't even lift a chicken."
Julian ground his teeth. "Don't be fooled—deception is her specialty."
"We'll see once the footage arrives. If you've wronged her, what then?" Simon asked.
"If I'm wrong, I'll kneel and apologize on the spot!" Julian vowed.
"Good," Simon said coldly. "Your words—don't renege."
Julian snorted. "If she really deleted the footage, she must kneel to Annie in public and bear all legal consequences for the damage."
"No objection," Simon replied.
A nurse entered to start Elena's IV. After one glance at the Bennetts, she chose to give the care instructions to Simon and Sir Whitmore instead.
Soon Brian Change arrived, surveillance files in hand.
"President Whitmore, I copied everything from eight o'clock until Miss Bennett appears," he reported.
"Excellent," Simon said.
Julian sprang up as if holding the smoking gun. "See? She went to the estate! Elena, what can you say now? Kneel to Annie immediately!"
Fury blazed from him; he looked ready to yank her off the bed himself.
Simon shoved him back. "Calm down. Showing up doesn't equal deleting footage."
Julian spluttered, "She—"
"Sit," Simon barked.
He opened the file; Julian leaned in. One glance and the color drained from his face.
